Penny Box

In honor of our 30th anniversary I had a friend make us a "Penny Box." What's a Penny Box? Well, it's a beautiful, custom decorated box to keep pennies in, pennies that were minted in certain years. In our case I started with pennies dated 1951 and 1957, the years of our births. The next year would be 1978, the year we met, and so on. We think back on the milestones of our 33 years together and find a penny to remind us of that year.
Our Penny Box was made by Ginny. She handmade all of the tiles on the top! I told her the occasion and what I kind of wanted it to look like. She did a remarkable job! The top says "you and me" "1981" and she even made me a beautiful calla lily tile.
This past Christmas I gave a penny box to TD and MA so they could go ahead and start their collection of copper memories. I hope they will both feel as blessed as I do when I look at my pile of pennies. God is good.
