An Unexpected Hike

The Hub and I had a chance to spend some time together last Saturday. Normally that would not be worth writing about but our time together seems to be in short supply of late :( Add to that the unexpected treasure we experienced on our hike and suddenly it is news worthy!
We took in a small craft fair Saturday at R.I. State Park. This is a fair that we went to annually several years ago. Boy, has it changed. It's a tenth the size it was. We were rather sad about that. As we left we bought some bbq plates for lunch and decided to drive to a section of the park that we wanted to check out. After eating we decided to walk the 1/2 mile trail to the water. Sounds nice enough. The sign did mention the word "strenuous."
We made our way down the short set of stairs and entered the trail portion. Now it gets interesting and beautiful. Have you ever been inside a waterfall? This was kind of like that. The water was coming down the side of the cliff all over it! There were small streams cascading down in every direction. The sound was amazing! Not so loud that you couldn't talk but loud enough that you didn't want to. I loved the sound, and the water and the beauty of this little speck of God's Creation.
We made it down to the river, took a few pics and headed back up. The trip up was where the "strenuous" part came into play. My heart was pounding! I was reminded how badly I need to walk on a regular basis. The Hub and I had no problems if you don't count my soggy feet. He was prepared with waterproof footwear, I was not. After trying so diligently on the way down, I gave up and embraced the cascade as we climbed back up.
We paused for some more pics to remember our hike and made it back to the truck. We topped the day off by driving around the countryside enjoying the beauty that surrounds us. An unexpected day of new sights and experiences together. Thank You, Father.

These pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this area.

In the waterfall :)

My feet are wet and I'm on a slippery rock! The water falling down around me felt wonderful!

my socks and shoes got to dry out as we toured the countryside :)
